How to brew white tea

brew white tea

GaiWan

We recommend using a white Gaiwan for brewing tea because the white Gaiwan allows for easier observation of the tea’s changes and facilitates pouring out the tea water, thus controlling the brewing time more conveniently.

Brew Steps

warm up the cup

  1. Using hot water to warm the cup can help clean the tea set again, ensuring its hygiene, removing any dust or odors that may exist, and providing a cleaner environment for tea tasting
  2. Sudden exposure to hot water may cause rapid temperature changes, especially for glass or ceramic tea sets. Warm cups can reduce the risk of tea set breakage caused by excessive temperature differences
  3. Heating tea utensils with hot water helps to maintain the temperature of the tea and better release the aroma and flavor of the tea leaves

Add Tea leaves

If you are using a 150ml GaiWan, add 5g of dry tea.

Add Water

Use boiling water between 95˚-100˚.

Pouring hot water into the Gaiwan at a fixed angle on the side helps to evenly saturate the dry tea, thereby fully releasing the aroma and flavor of Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle White Tea).

pouring tea

When brewing Bai Hao Yin Zhen, it is essential to pour water quickly, and from the moment the water is added until the tea liquid is drained from the Gaiwan, the entire process should be controlled within 5-7 seconds.

This ensures that the tea leaves are evenly soaked and the full aroma and flavor of the Silver Needle are fully released.

divide tea

You may now enjoy your tea. If the tea is a bit hot, you can either sip it gently in small sips or wait for it to cool down a bit before drinking. However, it’s best not to let it get too cold, as the aroma is most intense when the tea is warm.
