All tea leaves should be stored in a cool, dry place with minimal temperature fluctuations. Tea is very good at absorbing odors, so it should be kept away from anything with a strong smell.
Green tea
Green tea, an unfermented tea, is best stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 0-5°C. Use airtight bags or tea tins to seal the tea and prevent it from absorbing other odors. If unopened and intended to be stored for more than a year, it should be placed in the freezer.
Black Tea, Dark Tea, White Tea
As time passes, these teas can become more mellow and aromatic. Generally, they only need to be sealed and stored in a dry, cool environment away from light.
Yellow tea
Yellow tea, a lightly fermented tea, has a shelf life of about 1-2 years. It can be stored in the refrigerator, similar to green tea. Whether loose or packaged, the tea should be well-sealed to maintain its original aroma.
Oolong tea(Qin Tea)
Oolong tea is a semi-fermented tea, and its storage method is relatively simple. It can be stored at room temperature based on its dryness. To maintain freshness, it can also be stored in a refrigerator at low temperatures. Light-aroma Anxi Tieguanyin is not suitable for room temperature storage and should be stored at a low temperature of 0-5°C, which is suitable for the refrigerator.
Flower tea
Flower tea is a type of reprocessed tea made from a base tea and fragrant flowers using the scenting process. The storage method for flower tea should be based on the base tea type. Common jasmine tea, with a base of green tea, should be stored like green tea; jasmine black tea, like black tea; and osmanthus oolong tea, like oolong tea.
