About Shangtianzhu Longjing
Shangtianzhu is a legendary origin within the West Lake Longjing tea region, and the earliest historical records of tea cultivation around West Lake are from this very place. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the abbot of Shangtianzhu Temple, Master Biancai, planted tea trees at the foot of Baiyun Peak. After his seclusion, he introduced the tea to the vicinity of the Old Longjing Temple and dedicated himself to the study of tea-making techniques. Eventually, he crafted an exceptionally fine tea that surpassed all others of his time. Because of this, master Biancai is also known as the progenitor of Longjing tea.
The tea from Shangtianzhu is particularly noted for its floral aroma, with fragrance being its most prominent feature. Even when the tea is dry and not yet brewed, the tea fragrance is very pronounced. When used in business or social gatherings, the aroma of this tea can quickly lift everyone's spirits.
