From Wuyi Mountain’s Zhengyan region.
The King of Teas, with a long history.
The tea soup is orange-red, bright, rich, and sweet, with a strong tea aroma in the mouth. After the sweet aroma of grains comes the sweetness of ripe fruit and the fresh scent of plants. The aftertaste is prominent, inducing salivation and leaving a cool sensation in the mouth. There is a slight fruity acidity, and the fragrance lingers for a long time.
The name of Da Hong Pao tea comes from a legend. Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty in China, a scholar on his way to the imperial examinations fell ill as he passed through Mount Wuyi. After drinking tea water, he was cured. Later, upon becoming the top scholar (Zhuangyuan), he expressed his gratitude by covering the tea tree that had saved him with his red robe, hence the name "Da Hong Pao."
The original tea tree no longer exists, but the name Da Hong Pao now refers to a tea plant variety. The Da Hong Pao grown within the Wuyi Mountain Nature Reserve is considered the best in quality. The soil is loose, highly permeable, and full of minerals that are beneficial for plant growth. As a result, the tea produced here has a unique mineral flavor, reminiscent of the rocks, making it truly special.
This Da Hong Pao has a perfect balance of roasted and fruity aromas, with a rich fragrance that even surpasses some perfumes, yet it smells more natural.
